How do I frame or edit a Bill of Entry?

Overview :

A Bils of Entry or SAD is the document used to clear goods through customs. In order to frame an SAD, you need to do a file registration first.

Step by step :

  1. Make sure you have registered a file first.
  2. From your Shipment Register screen, click on Bills of Entry.
  3. You will be presented with the Imports Bill of Entry manager screen. To create a new entry, click on New.
  4. Fill out the screen. Most of the details will be pulled through from the File Registration screen.
  5. Once you have completed the details, press Ok. The system will warn you if you have left anything out.
  6. You will be presented with the Suppliers invoices screen next. The ShipShape system allows you to load multiple suppliers invoices with multiple currencies. To add a new suppliers invoice click on New.
  7. Complete the suppliers invoice screen. Please note that Dutiable Charges are for charges over and above the invoice value. In most cases the Dutiable Charges field should be left as 0.
  8. Once you have added all your Suppliers invoices, you can close the screen at the top left.
  9. The next screen you will be presented with is the Bill of Entry lines screen :

10. Using the Tariff Lookup screen is fairly simple.

Under search characters, fill in the Tariff Heading you are looking for. Otherwise you can change the search from Sub Heading to Description if you would like to search on description.

  1. You can keep adding lines by repeating step 9 until you have used up all your foreign invoice amount (see the bottom right of the Bill of Entry Lines Screen).
  2. Once you have completed all your lines, you can then close the Bill of Entry Lines screen. Your entry is complete at this point.
  3. If you need to dump your entry, select it and press the SPACE key on your keyboard. You will see a tick appear in the dump column. Click on the EDI button and select ‘Send this batch immediately’.
  4. Use the EDI Logs button to keep track of your EDI’s.
  5. If you are not EDI compliant, use the Disk button.

Tips :

  1. Make sure that you are familiar with the purpose code you are about to frame on. Different purpose codes require different information and you will need all the correct documentation on hand to complete the questions.
  2. Try to avoid dumping an entry more than once, unless otherwise advised by a technical support consultant.
  3. To edit your entry’s lines, click on the Lines button, select the line you wish to edit and click on the Edit button.
  4. To edit your entry’s header simply select the entry and click on the Edit button.
  5. To edit your suppliers invoices, select the entry and click on the Invoices button.
